Hurts barely threw the ball in first half

Jalen Hurts passed for only 39 yards in the first half of this game. That is the lowest passing yardage total for Hurts in the first half of a playoff game. He had 88 or more yards in every previous postseason matchup. This is also the third-lowest first-half passing yardage for Hurts in any game he has started.

Slow starts for Love, Hurts after injuries

Both starting quarterbacks in this game were less than 100% in recent weeks.

Jalen Hurts missed the Eagles' season finale after suffering a concussion during Philadelphia's Week 17 loss to the Washington Commanders. He cleared concussion protocol this week and is 6-for-13 passing with 39 yards and a touchdown pass at halftime.

Jordan Love sustained an elbow injury in Green Bay's Week 18 loss to the Chicago Bears but fully participated in the last two days of practice leading up to this game. He's 9-for-15 passing with 70 yards and two interceptions at halftime.

Loss of Nakobe Dean could loom large

Nakobe Dean was a star linebacker at Georgia, winning the Butkus Award and helping the Bulldogs to a national championship in the 2021 season before falling to the third round in the 2022 NFL Draft — not because of talent, but because of injury concerns.

Dean did deal with injuries in 2023 but has been healthy in 2024, becoming an integral part of Philadelphia's rebuilt linebacker core. Despite getting carted off the field in the first half and eventually ruled out with a knee injury, Dean leads all Eagles tacklers so far this game with six total tackles and two tackles for a loss.

Much different start than last year's wild-card game for Packers

Last season, Green Bay became the first No. 7 seed to win a playoff game since the NFL playoff format expanded to three wild-cards in 2020. The Packers did so by landing haymaker after haymaker against the Cowboys in Dallas, jumping out to a 27-0 lead in the first half.

It's been a different story in Philadelphia. After Keisean Nixon fumbled the opening kickoff — and the play was upheld on review despite replay seemingly showing Nixon recovering the ball — the Eagles just needed three plays in a short field to score the game's first touchdown.

This time around, the offense that tore Dallas apart last year has been stifled by the NFL-best Eagles defense.

Eagles need more despite halftime lead

The Eagles lead the Packers 10-0 at halftime. But there was a significant cost. Starting linebacker Nakobe Dean was carted off the field and eventually ruled out with a knee injury. Dean has been a major presence on the NFL's top-ranked defense. The Eagles offense has also stagnated since last reaching the Packers' red zone. They scored a touchdown on their opening drive, thanks to a forced fumble on the opening kickoff. But they haven't done much since. They've failed to score any points off two interceptions by Darius Slay and Zack Baun. Up plus-3 in the turnover margin, this is a game the Eagles should be winning handily.

Packers missing Christian Watson

In another world, maybe top Green Bay deep threat Christian Watson doesn't tear his ACL in Week 18 against Chicago, and he's the one running the go route up the sideline early in the second quarter instead of fellow wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks.

Instead, however, Love's pass was slightly underthrown and landed right in the arms of Darius Slay for an easy interception for the veteran Eagles defensive back. It was the first of two second-quarter interceptions Love would throw.
